Lawrence the Lobster

Back in July 2015, I posted about my trip to Aldeburgh for the weekend and mentioned this lobster t-shirt which I had bought and had to return in aged 10 kids. It was sadly too small so last year in the Isles of Scilly, I was delighted to find the t-shirt in an aged 12.
Yes, that pose is me pretending to be a lobster...
Today, as I headed into town to pick up an irritatingly large parcel for CBC from the post delivery office (1 mile walk there, 1 mile walk back WITH large pouffe-sized parcel) I decided I needed a fun yet practical outfit and Mr Lawrence the Lobster made his debut.
Of course, I had to add my Erstwilder Lobster brooch, Mr Pinchy, who is also donning glasses and a moustache. It seems all the sartorial-based lobsters are dandies!
I wanted to shun trousers in favour of bare legs and a skirt so I wore this White Stuff reversible skirt. I do like a quirky print!  Added to that, the Converse I bought back in 2006 when I was doing my PGCE and I walked from Holborn to Russell Square in some supposedly comfortable shoes which cut my feet to shreds. I really could not tolerate walking any more in them, they were that painful (blister city!) so I limped to the nearby Brunswick Centre and found these!  Putting them in the Washing machine last year gave them a wonderful new lease of life!

The t-shirt is designed by Joules but it has the Isles of Scilly shop logo on the back!
The rest of the day was lovely as my friend invited me round to hers once again to have dinner and watch Doctor Who and then Austenland. CBC is out on a Duke of Edinburgh weekend so I was alone and very happy to see Doctor Who for a second week running.  We had time for a delightful walk around the woods near her then watched the TV.  Doctor Who was great though I felt a LOT was left unanswered by the episode- where did the creatures come from?  Why were they there?  Why did they do what they did?  What happened to the rest of the family of the Chief protagonist and how did he survive if he was alone?  Why every 20 years?  Why was the loss of previous people not investigated?

Austenland was a DELIGHT! I was overjoyed to see the gorgeous JJ Feild (who I MET in real life HERE) was back in a Regency suit!!!  I will never grow tired of Jane Austen adaptations and spinoffs!!!

Hope you are all well and had a fun weekend!

Stop all the clocks!

At the weekend, I mentioned going to my concert in Victoria.  I saw the opportunity to visit the Cath Kidston flagship store. I PROMISE I intended to buy nothing but when I saw the clock skirt (and with £6 off), I somehow went into Automaton mode and ended up buying it. I do love clock-themed items- it stems from a Doctor Who obsession and an Alice in Wonderland obsession.

I wore it out immediately the next day to church and it was clocked (ha!) instantly by a clock-obsessive who like me, dreams of having an entire mantlepiece of ramshackle clocks of all kinds!

I teamed it up with these George Dalmatian-print shoes, Grandad's boater hat, green thrifted satchel, Dotty Perks pearl collar  and  this t-shirt which caused much consternation at church. It says, "So what if I pray like a girl?" and in smaller writing, "Men and women, all are equal and one in Christ," from Galatians.  I tried to make the point that no, the slogan is not biblical, the point is that God hears everyone's prayers, regardless of who you are.

After church, the weather was SO glorious that I managed to persuade an over-worked and stressed CBC to drive us to Papermill Lock in Little Baddow near Chelmsford for a spot of lunch in the tea-rooms.  It's on the river Chelmer and is a lovely place for cycling to as you come down North Hill, Essex's highest and steepest hill and end with the reward of tea and cake (and nice lunches). The only  bit I don't like is cycling back up it so you can carry on over the river to Hatfield Pevrell and get home that way. It's very easy to reach from the A12.

You can take a short cruise along the river. We ourselves cruised on this boat the day after the wedding with family members.

After lunch, I persuaded CBC to walk along the river for a bit. As you can see from the facial expression, he was SO unimpressed and just wanted to get home.

Much excitement from all those in the tea-rooms as this boat went down in the lock. We seasoned bargers (ha! One 2 day trip!) were rather more nonchalant about it! Did you hear about that barge in the papers that got caught on the back of the lock gates and completely filled with water! It did sober me in regards to how you have to be so careful on a lock!

The canoers were out in force and had I not been in skirt and heels, I would have considered joining in!

Just a couple of the boats around.

Hows you all.
Thanks for the nice comments re my food.  Glad you liked my choices and I was intrigued at the sausage opinions- it seems that I am not wrong to dislike the LM veggie sausages!

Rockchick I am not

Hmmmmm, moody rocker-chic is the look Jessica Hart provides at the Twobirds Inspiration Monday today.  Now if there is one thing I'm not, it's rockchick!  Cannot carry it off.  Not my musical tastes, hair, dress-sense, personality.  Nil, zilch, zero.

I tried once before, 3-4 years ago to do the rockerlook with this Tommy Hilfiger t-shirt.  I even accessorised with a Dalek, (you know, studs, metal, they've got the vibe) but somehow it didn't work.  I just don't think it's me and I'm ok with that. I quite like being the person who can't carry it off!  That makes me me!

I was in the show 'Anything goes' a while back, playing one of the 4 fallen angels (incidently, the one named Virtue) and despite the fact, that alongside my other 4 angels, I was dressed in a let us say, un-Kezzie-like fashion, apparently I just looked sweet! Ahrgh!

Looking through my wardrobe this morning to find something to create this look was like trying to find moonshine!

So I looked at my few t-shirts with logos one, dismissed the Pink panther one and decided to go with this Sound of Music one I bought when I saw the show- because like Zed Leppelin, it has a cult-following (tenuous I know).   I own no animal print trousers (or tops for that matter) so the nearest I can get to garish print is these floral print trousers.
To make me look hard (I speak with tongue in cheek!) I wore mismatched earrings- earphones and cassette (for retro cred?) and a lightbulb necklace! The boots were outside my possibilities I am afraid!

I did have a few t-shirts in mind- before I went for the chosen one, which I thought I'd show you for a laugh.  One is a sort of Christian question one and the other is my tour-t-shirt from when my Gamelan band starred in the Bali Arts Festival 2006 (yeh, a band t-shirt!).   No rockchick cred there either, I'm afraid!
Oooh, I forgot to say!  You must be wondering why I am faffing with t-shirts and am not at school!  Well, wonder of wonders, I got my dates wrong and we're back tomorrow!!!!! So I have an extra day off!  Oh halcyon day, oh wonder and raptures!!!!

Does adding a roughened looking frame round it make me look any harder?! No?
Now, I suggest you go and sate your rockchick look cravings by going to visit the other rockchicks/birds at the Two bird link up plate!

Ciao for now!

Cat, mouse and rabbit!

Remember my recent reference to dressing like a teenage girl? Here's more proof!  I couldn't resist this Sylvester t-shirt from Primark - it's so cute, it even has sparkly bits on it, big wide sleeves (I don't like tight short sleeves).  Until fairly recently, I had a Mutley and a Pink panther t-shirt which I adored, but they were just too tight.  I missed them!
That's me being a cat by the way!  (The hat hasn't had its own post yet, but it will at some point!)

And of course, I had to go for Jewellery to match.  Cat and mouse charms!   That cat looks a bit manic at this angle.  "Ahaaaaarwwwwwww, I shpy mousie!"

REMIX:
This weekend, aside from wearing a very glamorous long silk dress for my kids concert (more of that later), I wore it again, in a slightly different way!

More slouchy than last weekend!  Again, I felt as comfy as anything, cord jeans as opposed to cord skirt this time!"
It seemed unfair to traumatise little mousie again so I elected to team Sylvester with my Wolf and Moon Mirror Bunny.  Hmmmm, who would be the predator in this case?  Are cats interested in rabbits?  I'm not sure?! Can you help?!

I'm probably not going to be able to blog at all this week, apart from tomorrow's scheduled post, so catch me while you can! If you leave me lovely messages, of course, I'll catch up as soon as I can and return the love next weekend!!
