5 brooches #30

Hello there,
Hope all is well with you.
It's been a good day all in all but I am weary!!! I went for a run yesterday with a friend and my legs are reaaaaaaaaaaally aching now- so painful! It was good to do some exercise other than my daily 2.4 miles walk or the occasional swim.  Hope we can keep it up- at least once a week!

Onto the broochology...
This Polar bear was from Tatty Devine. I received an ASOS voucher for my birthday and I bought this with it! Thanks to Madame Penguin for this!
I've had this cute little badge since before Christmas. It came as a freebie with my Ladybird likes box!
I couldn't resist wearing this with my Shrimp earrings and the pink flamingo outfit. Bought these from the Church Big day out a few years ago.
Sass and Belle bluetit was perfect for this Dotty Perkins dress- so glad I can wear this for school now as I couldn't with my previous Headteacher as she also had it!
Love my Dorothy brooch. I last wore this BEFORE the inauguration of 5 brooches I think! Worn with my Clara Flatline shirt!
Last but not least, Mr Pinchy, my Erstwilder lobster brooch- love him!

Have you seen or worn any nice brooches this week?

Magic Mushroom

Yesterday, we attended the wedding of some friends, one of whom used to be CBC's house-mate.  We remember when they got together and it has been lovely to see their relationship develop from meeting on-line to getting married.  Curiously, we live in their old house.  They moved out into their new house last summer and we took over a week later after our honeymoon!

As with a wedding, what does one wear?  I decided a while back, since it was an Autumn wedding, I would wear my Poppy England Grace dress worn with a petticoat.

I decided to pick out the tiny bit of red in the dress and wore my ruby slippers and an ASOS red spot pillbox hat.  My husband was VERY insulting about this choice of millinery and told me I looked like Super Mario's mushroom friend! Fine, thanks!

My handsome husband wore a lovely wool Next suit  with his groom's waistcoat and a super paisley tie from Coe's in Maldon.

He bought himself an Autumn buttonhole from the florists which made us laugh as there was one thistle too many! Any time I tried to hug him, I got spiked in the chest!

We've had a few things to do with the wedding. We helped try lots of prosecco in order to choose this.  In addition, I leant them a series of items including wedding umbrella, camera tripod, hats and accessories for a photo booth and I helped making the table names- well, I worked with a Sharpie to write them anyway! Behold my handwriting....

The hats were strewn all around the place by the end of the evening and there were some funny moments on the dance floor with them.

The food was delicious and what was amazing was that we were served a trio of desserts:
Eton Mess, Chocolate brownie, Apple crumble plus ice-creams and a large chocolate slab!

The whole day was chilled and relaxed and the bride looked utterly beautiful!

Hope all is well with you.

Red roses and ruby slippers

20140618_204425
My spare room has once again become a tip because it is littered with summer dresses I have worn for a day and somehow not wanted to put in the washing basket yet.  I love the plethora of summer dresses I own which I have found in charity shops over the years, like this one. On Wednesday, I wore this polka dot number which I really like for its sort of roll neck. Red and black and white polka dots are a favourite combo for me. You may think it's too matchy but I don't care! It's the type of outfit that pleases my kids at school.  I had a whole host of little hands grabbing at my brooch! And I match my environment!
Somehow though, I lack the ambient, crisp photos to make the lovely romantic looking shots other bloggers would manage with this combo. Ah well.

Seems a bit self-indulgent to do just a post of shots of me but I did like this combo.

A few updates: My work colleague got an Outstanding for her observation! She was so chuffed!  The laptop is still in the airing cupboard, I am still too nervous to know the answer to whether it works or not.
My kids called me cool today. I rode my pink micro-scooter to the station and school today as I was running late and didn't have time to walk the mile to the station. When I got to the station near school,I rode my scooter down the road.  At the first bus stop, I saw one of my year 6 recorder pupils. She was just about to board the bus. I said to her, "Let's see who gets there first!" and bombed my way down the road to school, being careful to stop at each road.  Just as her bus pulled up to school,I wheeled up to her as he got off and "Tie,".  At lunchtime, my music girls said they'd seen me, and used to the usual reaction, I said, "Did you laugh at me?" and she said, "No, we said you're cool!" which another child told me too, 5 minutes later. That's so nice. I have never been regarded as cool ever. Sweet, yes. Funny, yes. Other things but not cool!

Sorry, not much to say.I am super tired.

Hugs to you.

Dancing through life in ruby slippers

I took inspiration from Florrie and her Lolita outfits when I put this outfit together yesterday.  Like Vix, I am really sad to have to put to bed my summer outfits and wear Autumnal wear and I've only worn this dress once this summer since I purchased it brand-new in the charity shop.  I really like the way the Lolita look that Florrie wears layers so many pretty items with each other and they look lovely though I couldn't do that type of outfit- far too much effort for me!  Still, looking at Lolita outfit made me try to pair this French connection pussy-bow blouse with the dress so I could wear it again!  I am wearing a cherry-print shoe-lace in my hair too! One of my colleagues told me I looked like Snow-white!

I am so pleased with these shoes. They are from Toms and I've been eyeing them up for months now. I bided my time and managed to get them half-price in the sale.  When I first saw them, I thought they were wonderful! They are really comfy so I can click my heels three times at any time! I know Toms are controversial and I get why but I thought these were so cute!

I had a lovely time at school today.  In the morning, I was with Reception and aside from a nice music lesson, I was supervising the children painting faces and buttons on their gingerbread men!  So funny!  I'm starting to really like that class- there are some real characters in there and they seem to like me!

In the afternoon, I was teaching my third week of Tudor dance to the year 4's.  I really, really love teaching dance.  I have always learnt dance, from a very young age and I look rubbish doing it, not overly good but by heck I love doing and teaching it!   We were practising Bransle des Chevaulx today (here is the dance we are learning and the music we are using) and I videoed the children and they were beginning to look really good!!!!  We worked hard and I am so proud of them!  It's really good fun.  I'm absolutely longing to get them all dressed up to do a performance of this, Branle des Sabots and Pavan processional which we are learning next week!
I'm thinking of doing some African dance with the year 5's as part of their cyclic drumming unit- so much fun!   I think it's so important to actually give them a breadth of different dance styles to learn so they have a wide pool of experience and steps to draw upon when they come to create their own dance.  And it allows them to find something they really like!
Hurrah for the weekend!  The first POST-MA one! What are you up to?
