TARDIS Tuesday- Donna Noble- the Fires of Pompeii

For TARDIS Tuesday this week, I am returning to a dressy outfit worn by 19th Doctor companion, Donna Noble in an episode set in ancient Rome.  Donna swaps her outfit for a beautiful purple dress with gold detailing and add gold strand earrings, gladiator sandals plus a sort of coloured single pearl necklace.  It's very pretty and elegant.

I cannot believe that I have not worn this outfit since April 2018!!!!

Here's my hot August day edition:

I started with this viscoe M&Co dress.  The dress I originally wore for this cosplay doesn't fit me any more and I think I may have sent it to another blogger- not sure- I haven't seen it anywhere recently...

CBC and I went to Felixstowe in Suffolk for 3 days (2 nights) as my Dad, Stepmum and sister were there in their holiday flat and we went to spend some time with them as well as celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary!

I saw this dress on the sale rack in a charity shop for £2.50- it has some sort of ink stain one of the shoulders but I don't mind that.

I added my usual Greek gladiator sandals bought from Primark a decade ago for a production of The Boys from Syracuse that I was in.

I added the Primark gold strand earrings I wore for the same show plus I added a gold sparkly belt to my waist band.  To try and emulate the gold braid round the neck, I added some gold and waist cord I wore in my hair for the Boys from Syracuse- it's literally just dangling round my neck- if I were to wear this for a proper event, I would tack it on somehow.
To recreate the necklace, I wore a tiny horseshoe necklace (from a Clara outfit) and strung through one of a pair of green pearl (simulated) earrings I was given as a gift.

I am rather pleased this this as I was wondering what might be a suitable outfit to wear on the hottest day of the year so far!

It's been a lovely week.
Activities include:
Going to see Kiss Me Kate at the Barbican
Meeting a new relative of CBC's who he has been FaceBook friends with for 20 years but never met.
An hour at the beach in Southend making a shell/stone picture
An afternoon at Mum's
3 days in Felixstowe:
Going on the Ferris wheel
Swimming all afternoon in the sea
Swimming at Felixstowe pool
Delicious Italian meal
Dusk walk at the golden-hour around the fields with CBC
Picking blackberries
Icecreams!
Making orange juice ice-lollies in reusable silicon moulds
Seeing our mortgage advisor as we are due to remortgage soonish.
Chucking out some old paperwork
Not unpacking my suitcases

Hope all is well with you!

TARDIS Tuesday Closet Cosplay- Donna Noble- Journey's end

Hello there friends!

Realising I have debuted quite a few new TARDIS Tuesdays this year. 5 already and it's not even April!

Happily, most of these are closet cosplays, e.g. I've looked at my wardrobe and realised I had items already that could work for the outfit rather than seeking any item specifically!

Today is such and outfit and actually, this one has been at the back of my mind for  quite a few years!

Let's have a look at it:

Worn by character, Donna Noble in series 4 of Doctor Who alongside David Tennant in Donna's last episode as companion (until last year!)

The entire outfit has been identified here  if you are interested but I realised I had potential items that could achieve a rough approximation of the outfit:

I'll start off with my leather jacket.  I bought this on a charity shop crawl in Ipswich with Sophie and Hazel.  Sadly, Sophie doesn't blog any more (I really miss her) and Hazel is rather occupied with motherhood alongside work.

When I bought this, it actually made me think of Donna's coat although I knew they were very different...buuuut, it gives the general idea!  I didn't buy it for that purpose, I bought it because I liked it.

The next item was this Brora cashmere sweater dress which I bought in November in a charity shop.  It's a lovely blue colour. I haven't quite worked out how to wear it- I wore it here with my F&F charity shopped denim sailor trousers- you can see their rather obvious waistband showing through the fitted cashmere. Not the most flattering look. Maybe thick leggings would work better as an outfit.  I bought it as I thought it would be an excellent Winter garment. Cashmere is always expensive, new or second hand. This was £7.99. Mine is a bit longer and more fitted than hers.

Fun fact about this sweater dress.  The original grey one is from Oasis. She also wore a purple version of this dress in another episode.  I used to own the purple version bought from Oasis when it was sold there. I had no idea until recently that I actually owned the same Donna Noble dress by total coincidence! Pity I got rid of it!

I didn't have quite the right colour of vest top but I found this charity-shopped pink one to be the most similar match.

Mum's brown leather belt made another appearance!

Do you spot my gold hoop earrings?  Ha, reminds me of being a teenager.  I bought these in a charity shop for 50p a year ago or so for my Rose Tyler cosplay (which I can't do again as I sold the t-shirt last week!).

My black Clarks boots completed the look.  The cross necklace is not part of the cosplay but I wanted to wear a necklace as I always wear one!

I wore this for church on Sunday. Had to add a raincoat as it was pouring as I left!

What do you think of this look?  Doesn't totally work but I was happy wearing it! Church ended up being quite chilly in the end!
