Hello Blog friends,
I never really do much for my birthday but this year, it happens to be my 40th birthday at the end of the month. The one year I might perhaps want to do something for my birthday and I can't. I also feel incredibly gloomy about being 40. Because I still think I'm 12 in my head. And 40 seems to grown up. People have expectations of things you should have done by that age, even if they don't voice them. I don't want to be in my 40's so that's a bit sad. So I had a little thought:
I love fancy dress parties and I love Doctor Who. Now this might seem a bit self-centered, so please forgive me if this seems that way, I just thought it might be a bit of fun esp since I won't be able to have a celebration, but I'd love it if my blog friends wanted to join in with the TARDIS Tuesday the week of my 40th birthday. If you felt able or willing to get involved in this, here's my idea:
You plan a costume based on things you have in your home, not buying anything for it, that might subtly (or not so subtly) be based on a Doctor Who character. Then you post a photo of you on your blog on Sunday the 28th of February or Monday 1st March in your costume/outfit. Then you add the link for your blog post to the comments of this post. I should point out that the Doctor's TARDIS is a Type 40 TARDIS so my Tuesday post will be called the TYPE 40 TARDIS Tuesday. I will then share the pictures of you in your TARDIS Tuesday outfit along with mine and I have an online fancy dress party with you guys!
If you need any inspiration, just have a look at my TARDIS Tuesday tag or google Doctor Who characters and look at google images

What about a Doctor Who villain?
Dalek? Weeping Angel? Cyberman? Krynoid? Vervoid? The Candyman?
Let me know if you fancy joining in (so I know I'm not a Larry No-mates). I understand if you don't want to, but it would make me so happy if you chose to join in. Remember how much fun the Bloggers Art Gallery was when we all got to see each other's post!
xx
Heyyy happy birthday! İts so cute! Everything will be beautiful for you xx
ReplyDeleteI will get my thinking cap on and see if we can do something at this end 🙂. Please DM your address on Instagram as I’d love to send you a card xx
ReplyDeleteOh Kezzie - what a brilliant idea for a 'virtual' celebration. I shall do my best to think of something.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Kezzie. 40 is still young for me. I hope your party idea turns out to be fun for you.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julia
I'm not 40 yet! 2 weeks to go!
DeleteHappy Birthday, pal! Don't worry about getting older. I'm proof that you can remain as immature as you want. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not 40 yet! Still got 2 weeks to go.
DeleteA 40th birthday party dress up party? Wow, you had me at "dress-up", Kezzie! I am IN!
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, I loved my 40s. I finally felt like an adult (not that I was anxious to be one, but people stopped treating me like I didn't know anything), I was in control of my life, I felt confident in who I was and how I looked. The 40s are the best decade, so I hope you embrace this and be the best version of you, my dear friend.
My dear friend Cat is turning 50 at the end of Feb. It sucks having a birthday during a pandemic. I'm pretty sure I can pull off the 4th Doctor! :)
I think you could pull of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th,6th&8th Doctors!
DeleteAnd yet I went with the 11th! Here's my link: https://sheilaephemera.blogspot.com/2021/03/happy-birthday-kezzie-ode-to-11th-doctor.html
DeleteI'll have to do my homework but of course I'll join your virtual 40th party, it's the most exciting invitation I've had all year - in fact it's THE ONLY inviation I've had all year!
ReplyDeleteI had a hip replacement in the year I turned 40, paid off our mortgage and dyed my hair dark. I'm not a fan of parties (mine, not other people's) I avoided any fuss by travelling to Chennai! xxx
I loved my forties! I hope you can enjoy all the gifts of each year and decade and not worry about what others may think. You can only be your best self. That self will be a 40-yr-old woman very soon, and she will stay on her journey, moment by moment. God has good things ahead for you!
ReplyDeleteHello Kezzie, I turned 40 last year and like you, was terrified about the impending date. Now on the other side, I have decided I am not officially old and that 80 is old, so in turn I feel much younger. And when / if I get to 80, that will then change to 100. Simple, but works for me. The dress up idea is fab. I look like a weeping angel opening the curtains in the mornings, no costume needed there... bar the wings maybe. Lulu x
ReplyDeleteI don't know the first thing about Dr. Who - other than what I learned from you! - but I'd love to join, so I'll see what I can do! It's a fun idea! xxx
ReplyDeleteI am making plans.
ReplyDeleteOoh I'll have to do a bit of searching ... Happy Birthday in advance Kezzie - turning 40 wasn't nearly as bad as turning 30 for me ... and then it just gets easier lol (or you stop thinking about it)
ReplyDeleteSo, you're going to be 40 in two weeks. How time flies! This seems like a fun way to celebrate a birthday. I will google characters and see if I can find somethings suitable in my closet. I'm sure that I at least have a tartan skirt and white shirt if I don't find anything else.
ReplyDeletei can't promise but i'll try sorry no capital letters due to an awkward cat!!
ReplyDeleteI'll see what I can find!
ReplyDeleteJan was 40 last year and he seems to be surviving so far ;)
Happy birthday!!!! xx

Hello birthday girl! Here's my post: https://vintagevixon.blogspot.com/2021/03/the-distancing-diaries-28th-february.html
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Kezzie! I hope I can join in too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! popped over from Vix to see what you're up to - Im too late for the party - would knit myself a long scarf and join in if I had been earlier but what a great idea! have a great birthday.
ReplyDeleteOh I wish I'd been up to date with my blog reading, I'm sure I could've come up with something...
ReplyDelete40 isn't so bad, it's not old, and stuff anyone who thinks you should've done certain things by this point in your life. I am the queen of doing everything later than expected, not by design but because that's just how my life turned out. Live your life, be happy, that's the secret to staying young (I think). I'm looking forward to seeing all the costumes!
I hope you had a lovely birthday, I saw some cards and gifts on Instagram and have an inkling that the day was enjoyable :) Yay! Happy, happy, happy, belated birthday Kezzie!
xx
